Our hire base is located near the market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire in the heart of the Nene Valley. On board one of our narrowboats, you can explore the river between Northampton and Peterborough winding your way through the timeless English countryside. The River Nene meanders for about 100 miles via 38 locks through the counties of Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, bordering on Norfolk and ending its journey at the Wash. The Nene Valley is a haven for rare water and wetland birds and numerous species of dragonfly and damselfly. There is history here too. The Bronze Age village at Flag Fen; the remains of the castle at Fotheringhay, birthplace of Richard III and execution site of Mary, Queen of Scots; the fine Cathedral at Peterborough which is the burial place of Katherine of Aragon the first wife of Henry VIII, plus many other sites of heritage and historical interest. You can hire our narrowboats for short breaks, weeks or longer trips with prices starting from £535. We are open from April to end of October and our usual holiday start days are Friday and Monday.
