The manor is one of the hidden gems of Northamptonshire. Over eight hundred years old and with a huge history dating back to the Viking period, it offers a fascinating insight into Medieval England. Built on the site of one of king Cnut's royal halls, who visited sometime after 1017. After the king's death the hall remained in the ownership of the succeeding kings until Henry I gave it to the Bishop of Lincoln, for the endowment of a prebend.
