The past year has been a huge learning curve for businesses, not only in relation to forced closures but also reopening; following government guidelines and instilling customer confidence. In this context, at Adrenaline Alley every measure has been implemented to minimise the risk of virus transmission. The advice given for each industry has been plentiful but every organisation is unique, so the biggest hurdle for us has been adapting in a way that suits the needs of our specific business. As an urban sports of over 6 acres, with a small workforce in comparison to the size of the facility, pre-pandemic we could host over 600 customers on a busy day. Our visitors travel from all over the country and many from overseas. As we initially considered reopening we decided dramatic change was our only option to remain sustainable whilst going above and beyond to provide a... Read More »
While 2021 still offers the county’s culinary sector little for which to be thankful, more of its finest are enjoying a well-earned reason to celebrate after picking up top accolades in this year’s Weetabix Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards. The competition, now in its twelfth year, is run by the sector for the sector and is aimed at publicly applauding all that is great about local produce and drink, recognising excellence within the county’s dining venues and rewarding those who work so hard to ensure the sector’s continuing success. The Awards year usually culminates in a glittering celebration staged at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate but, owing to social distancing rules, the results in six of the categories were announced online back in November, while a further three category results were revealed in February during another... Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, is investing up to £25 million in the best game-changing and commercially viable innovative or disruptive ideas. All proposals must be business focused.
Applications can come from any area of technology and be applied to any part of the economy, such as, but not exclusively:
• the arts, design and media
• creative industries
• science or engineering
Whilst we welcome projects that overlap with the grand challenge areas this is not a requirement, as we are also keen to support projects in other areas.
To monitor the impact of our work to promote equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) we need to collect relevant data and evidence. For this competition this means:
• all applicants are required to complete the EDI survey
• applicants are prompted to consider EDI as part of the application process
EDI considerations are highly encouraged where appropriate in the proposal. Applications will continue to be assessed on their innovation merit, where innovation is defined as the potential for commercially successful exploitation of ideas. In applying to this competition, you are entering into a competitive process. This competition closes at 11am UK time on the deadline stated. For more information visit the following link:

Fast forward to Christmas and the conversation over the turkey is unlikely to be stuffed with many good things to have come out of the current crisis. However, if there’s one positive to have emerged, it is surely the surge in demand for buying local, as customers have switched crowded supermarkets for smaller independent shops and producers. Now, as the lockdown rules are relaxed further, the team behind the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards, the annual competition run by the sector, for the sector, is urging consumers to remember those county bakers and brewers, pie and pickle-makers – and the local venues that stock them - who have stepped up to the plate to best serve their communities when they were most needed.
